There are an estimated 27 million slaves in the world today. More than at any time in human history. An estimated 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders each year. Approximately 50% of all victims are children. 126 million children work in the worst forms of child labor – one in every 12 of the world’s 5-17 year-olds. An estimated 300,000 child soldiers are involved in over 30 areas of conflict worldwide, some younger than 10 years old.

In the words of William Wilberforce who gave his life to the British abolition of the slave trade in 1807,

“You may choose to look the other way but you
can never again say you did not know.”
